Nadia is a screenwriter from Buckinghamshire and a natural storyteller with an impressive range of diverse scripts for screen and radio, both in drama and comedy genres. A life-long fan of Agatha Christie and fascination as a child with the ‘Choose Your Own Adventure’ and ‘Point Horror’ books, led to her desire to be a writer. She began writing poetry and novels until she found her passion for screenwriting in 2017. Nadia explores thought-provoking themes using emotive narratives to evoke powerful, character-driven arcs, into unseen and yet familiar worlds.
Nadia has placed in both the BBC Drama and Comedy Writersroom. Her comedy pilot, El, was longlisted for BBC Comedy Writersroom in 2020, Half- Half, placed in the top 14% for BBC Comedy Writersroom in 2018, and Challenges, in the top 15% for BBC Drama Writersroom in 2019. She was a finalist in the Bristol Independent Film Festival, 2018, for the feature screenplay, Misunderstood Truths. Her short screenplay, Just Like Mummy, won the Grand Prize in the Black Screenplays Matter Screenwriting contest in LA, 2017, placed as a finalist in the Cannes Screenplay contest, 2019, and New Renaissance London Film festival, 2018, where it also received an honourable mention.
Nadia’s developing multiple projects to include El, her charming and funny family comedy series, centred around a Moroccan old-school mechanic who is desperate for his children to act like ‘proper Moroccan’s’. Challenges, based on her award-winning short, a police procedural drama where they fear the act of targeting young girls online, through a series of disturbing and racially aggravated self-harm challenges, has escalated from inciting suicide to murder. The Foundations Of Love, a heart-wrenching family drama inspired by the change in legislation surrounding the government ‘opt-out’ organ donation law, and the fascinating research on cellular memory transfer and the passing on of traits to the donor’s recipient.
