Mandy Redvers-Rowe is a blind writer who hopes that by placing characters with a different lived experience at the centre of her dramas, she can offer a new and alternative perspective. Equally, she is always sensitive to the demands of the particular genre she is working in.
Mandy’s first television drama, Second Sight, for Jimmy McGovern’s Moving On 11 was nominated for an Edinburgh TV Festival Writing Award as well as being The Times Critics’ Choice.
Mandy is currently writing for several CBeebies programmes, Biff & Chip, Dog Squad and a new series being developed by Mackinnon and Saunders.
Her theatre work includes her solo show, Measuring Up, and Shielded; both in partnership with The Liverpool Everyman & Playhouse, funded by The Arts Council. Her Radio 4 play, Blind School, was co-written with Sarah McDonald-Hughes.
Her early writing career included working as a sketch writer for the BBC’s DPU.
Mandy recently completed a year with the BBC Writers’ Access Group and undertook the EastEnders Shadow Scheme. She is a DANC Ambassador and a Graeae Beyond artist.
Mandy is developing a new romcom with See Saw films.
