Biography

Janey Jones is an internationally best-selling author, writer and publisher from Edinburgh. Her interests span genres and audiences. As a children’s author Janey is best known for her Princess Poppy books, which have sales of 8 million and have recently been revamped with eco values. Janey’s other children’s books include The Secrets of Sophia Musgrove (Corgi Children’s), Superfairies (Capstone Young Readers), Angel Academy (Usborne Publishing) and Cloudberry Castle (Floris Books). Janey’s hilarious romance novel The Secret Life of Lucy Lovecake was published by Black & White under the pseudonym ‘Pippa James’. In 2020 Black & White published Perfume Paradiso, a captivating romance set in the Italian countryside. Janey is currently working on a variety of projects including an animated TV script and a TV drama series about a fight for female liberation in Edinburgh in the 1870s.

Janey graduated with MA Honours from the University of Edinburgh, with her dissertation on The Victorian novel. She has worked as a Secondary School English teacher and was a member of the General Teaching Council of Scotland. Her writing is deeply informed by concern for Women’s Rights, politics, environmental issues and injustice. Janey is the mother of three sons and is passionate about dogs, gardens and the arts.
