Biography

Jacqueline Marett specialises in scripted development and collaborations, particularly escapism genre and deep psychological drama. International life experience, her time as a teacher and children’s social worker and geek interests inform her work.
She is a member of SETI and is often inspired by articles in New Scientist. Jacqueline is particularly excited by developing fully rounded, individual female voices for strong roles. She has an unusual but timely commercial advantage of insider knowledge of the vast international gaming audience. As an online gamer with long term experience of MMO and RPG game culture she is aware of the opportunities this audience offers and often writes with the gaming audience in mind.
Jacqueline aims to contribute to the current trend that leans into the tv/gaming overlap. Her spec writing projects have won first and third place as well as semifinalist and finalist awards at major international film festival writing competitions such as PAGE, Slamdance, Shore Scripts, L.A. International Film Festival, London Film Festival, Cannes, Barcelona among others.
Jacqueline’s slate includes: a romcom TV series, a feature project currently under wraps, a grounded sci-fi TV series written specifically to appeal to the gaming audience as well as several exciting collaborations including a sci-fi feature with possible phone game spin-off, a grounded sci-fi TV series and an action adventure feature.
Jacqueline recently produced an ambiguous short film about AI called SINGULARITY, which was screened at the Berlin Short Film Festival in June 2024.
