Hannah Robinson grew up wanting to be either a playwright or a marine biologist. Being terrible at science, and very good at daydreaming, she set her sights on a career as a storyteller. After studying Drama at the University of Manchester, she spent several years honing her skills as an advertising creative and filmmaker.
She completed the screenwriting MA at Royal Holloway, graduating with a distinction in 2017. Five years on, she’s an award-winning writer with projects at every stage of production. This includes writing several episodes for Channel 5’s Daisy and Ollie. Her first feature is set to be released in 2023.
With TV projects optioned by the likes of Knucklehead and Vox, and a slate of thriller features in the works, Hannah is finding her niche as someone who loves finding an offbeat angle from which to explore tricky subject matter. For example, her post-apocalyptic series Wetlands focuses on a young woman’s journey across England’s flooded remains – in a quest to turn the legendary internet back on. A vein of dark comedy connects all of Hannah’s adult projects.
Her slate also includes several children’s projects that celebrate science and neurodiversity – such as Space, Time and the Continuums – the stage show of which has been performed at Green Man and Wilderness Festivals, and Great and Small, which explores the surreal world of microbiology, from the perspective of a family of water bears.
