Will Yates is a writer and documentary producer who has been investigating the war in Iraq since mid-2003.
Will Yates’ debut book, Water’s Edge is published by Pen and Sword. Water’s Edge is a compelling true account of Joe McCleary, the British solider whose role in the death of an Iraqi child in 2003 led to multiple court cases and forced him to battle with the traumatic experiences of what happened before, during and after the war in Iraq.
Will was a researcher on the television drama-documentary The Government Inspector about United Nations weapons inspector Dr David Kelly, who committed suicide in the summer of 2003 after his remarks to a BBC journalist about Iraq’s WMD claims. The feature-length film, which aired on Channel 4, starred Mark Rylance and won BAFTA and RTS awards. Will has gone on to write and produce hundreds of hours of factual television series and feature documentaries for big name networks ranging from The National Geographic Channel, The History Channel, Sky Arts, Channel 4 and The Travel Channel. He has filmed projects across the world including India, Egypt, Jordan, Spain, Greece, the UK and the US.
