Biography

Marilyn Stowe is a family lawyer who founded and built her firm from a converted shop in East Leeds into the UK’s largest specialist family law firm. Her first clients were legally aided. Latterly they included the aristocracy, and some of the wealthiest and most well known in the country, based worldwide.

Marilyn has appeared throughout her career in major print and broadcast media including BBC, ITV and Sky News. She has blogged for The Times and was the family lawyer on ITVs This Morning for eighteen months with her own phone-in. She is the author of three books, including the bestselling Divorce & Splitting Up. It has sold over 10,000 copies and she donated all the proceeds to charity.

In February 2017 she successfully sold her firm to private equity and left private practice.

Of her first venture as a novelist, she says, ‘I’ve really enjoyed writing this book. The lawyers are fictional and so are the people and cases around them. I have been able to exercise a creative license that in real life just wasn’t possible. I hope readers enjoy this book as much as I have in writing it.’
