Alice Farnham is listed in the Classic FM Today’s Ten Best Women Conductors and in the BBC Woman’s Hour Music Power List. She is a British conductor and trained at the St Petersburg Conservatoire with the legendary pedagogue Ilya Musin. She is much sought after in the UK and further afield, particularly in opera where her repertoire is large and varied.
Alice is passionate about training young singers and instrumentalists and recently conducted opera productions at Guildhall School of Music & Drama (La Fedeltà Premiata) and Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama (The Gondoliers). She has been a guest conductor with many major ballet companies, including the Royal Ballet Covent Garden, Birmingham Royal Ballet and English National Ballet. Renowned for her work in training the next generation of conductors, Alice is Co-Founder and Artistic Director of Women Conductors with the Royal Philharmonic Society – a ground-breaking programme to encourage women into conducting. Alice has published a book on conducting with Faber, In Good Hands.
