Darren is a British actor who trained at the Arden School Of Theatre Manchester and graduated in 2005. He went straight into playing the role of Bassanio in Shakespeare’s The Merchant of Venice at The Edinburgh Fringe for Poor Tom Theatre Company and since then has worked consistently all over the UK and internationally in Theatre, Film, TV and Radio. He now has bases in Manchester, London, Stoke-On-Trent and Chicago in the US.
Darren will be recognisable to most for playing Spencer Gray for over 2 years in the long running Channel 4 show Hollyoaks, for which he earned award nominations and critical acclaim.
Darren was also Artistic Director of Men In Dressing Gowns Theatre Company Ltd until the untimely death of his Artistic partner and great friend Trevor Hancock in 2015. Their work together was focussed on writing and touring theatre comedy as an homage to the early talkies and silent movies that defined a generation.
Darren is also an Associate Artist at Page-2-Stage productions Ltd who he joined as actor to play the role of Romeo in their 2011 national tour of Romeo and Juliet. Since that successful tour Darren has starred in Robin Hood and A Midsummer Nights Dream, directed Macbeth and Twelfth Night and written original adaptations of classic stories such as Peter Pan, Alice and her Adventures in Wonderland and Little Red Riding Hood which will be touring the UK in 2017.
