Sarah Barrand enjoyed growing by the beach on the coast of North West England. Growing up her passions were Drama, Dance & Music (Flute). She studied Journalism at University whilst completing all her Guild Hall and LAMDA examinations and appeared in numerous theatre productions.
London beckoned after being successfully cast for 3 years as Shannon Donnelly-Lawson in the hit ITV (BBC America) Drama ‘Footballers’ Wives”. It was such a fabulous role for Sarah to take on, starting the series wearing a ‘Fat Suit’ with lots of prosthetics and then physically transforming in to the glamours funny and much loved character. From filming
Shannon’s wedding in a hot air-balloon then crash landing in a safari park to filming in bed with Graham Norton for a Sports Relief Special, there was always high entertainment with huge viewing figures. This lead to roles on other Dramas including playing a punk in Casualty (BBC), being cast as a 60’s Rock singer in The Royal (ITV) and Extra Time (ITV2).
Accents is one of Sarah’s fortes. She played an American in US Thriller ‘Stag Night’ alongside Breckin Meyer, Vinessa Shaw and Kip Pardue. Whilst She was shooting in Las Vegas she received a call to say she had been cast in the Welsh Comedy ‘Caught In The Act’’. Director, Matt Lipsey, was so impressed with Sarah’s comedic style and was surprised she was not from Wales as her accent was so natural. Off she went to the Valley’s along side an all well known Welsh cast.
Barrand was soon cast in traumatic 80’s film ‘The Kid’, Directed by Nick Moran, starring Jodi Whittaker and Rupert Friend. Sarah has always enjoyed travelling and especially when you can combine filming too! She jumped at the chance to present ‘Date With The Dali’ produced by Chris Evans’ company UMTV for ITV2. The two part documentary followed her though a spiritual journey across northern India. From Rat Temples, watching human cremations, meeting Eunuchs and being buried by BumBumBabba! It is something she will never forget. The end of the documentary follows Sarah on a trek through the Himalayas to watch the Dalai Lamas Spring Teachings.
MTV approached her after the ITV Documentary to present the GB2B cup where she interviewed footballers such as Ashley Cole and Jack Wilshaw, to name a few. As well as Acting Sarah loves to keep busy with Voice Overs, she is very versatile and has been the voice of many TV & Radio campaigns also cartoons & video games. Her accents can come in very useful in the studio from being a 5 year old toddler to a Shakespearian wicked witch, no day is ever the same!
Sarah was extremely honoured to be asked to be a Celebrity Ambassorder for the charity WellChild (Patron-Prince Harry). She enjoys working closely with the team, helping with events and supporting WellChild Families. She took part in their Helping Hands task Building a beautiful garden for one of the families…she can now lay turf and build a shed! The WellChild Team and Sarah were invited to 10 Downing Street to celebrate the growth of the charity and to recognise the incredible work they accomplish.
